8PSK tuner modulation - unable to lock at low SNR

At low SNR levels (7.0 - 9.0 dB) the ET8000 is unable to lock. This is not a problem on ET9200 or other receivers.
Even when the SNR is at 9.0 dB, the tuner initially has an issue, at first not locking then you can see the dB increase.

Last night was a good example, where I was able to continue to watch ITV1 HD (28.2E) on both my Sky HD receiver (Amstrad) and ET9200 - the ET8000 was unable to lock.

This is not a high symbol rate issue as with the ET9200, the symbol rate is 23000, FEC 2/3

I have exactly the same problem with the xt10000. This is pretty bad as this renders this box unusable for all BBC watchers in the fringes.
Is there any solution ? Some config option for the drivers ? or even new drivers ?
