In post #1 is placed a new(er) version, 12.2
Only made some minor changes in the VU+ part and added experimental support for the upcoming VU+ Duo2 (however this is not tested, so Duo2 owners use with caution)

edit: version 12.2 because there were some typos in the code

Again a new version in post #1, because of the change of structure in some packages for Openpli 4.0 there had to be made some changes in the install routine.
When installing on Openpli 3.0 there will be a warning shown which can be ignored. The warning is

Source code

2
Upgrading enigma2-plugin-extensions-backupsuite on root from 12.6 to 12.7...
enigma2-plugin-extensions-backupsuite: unsatisfied recommendation for mtd-utils-ubifs

Sorry for the overload of versions :whistling:

As always a new version in post #1
A rather big change in code and some translations added (5 items at the end of each language pack in locale)

New in this version:

- At the start of the back-up the size of the image, the size of kernel and the total size to back-up is shown in Kilobytes (and the total in Megabytes)
- There is made a prediction about the time it takes to complete the back-up. This prediction is based on the last made back-up.
- At the end of the back-up the speed is calculated in KB per second, this outcome will be used the next time to calculate the time it takes to back-up.

This is an early version so there will be faults in the translations!
If someone has better translations please say so, feel free to edit the language pack in the plugin and report back to me.

The first time the new plugin is used the speed which is used to calculate the back-up is 250 KB/s.
After the back-up this is changed to the real speed. So the next back-up will be a more realistic prediction.

The predicted speed will not be accurate if the USB only and HDD version are mixed.
The best prediction is done on the same device as the last back-up

I'm curious if you like this new addition.

Have fun!

Ich habe eine neue vu Ultimo und möchte bevor ich dort irgendetwas unternehme ein Backup von diesem Werksimage machen. Habe die .ipk auf mehrere FAT32 Sticks gezogen, aber nichts tut sich bei der Vu. Was mach ich falsch??

What image is at the moment on the VU+ Ultimo and is it connected to the internet?
To install it you'll have to have a working internet connection on the box because it requires some extra packages tobe able to work (some compression packages)

If it is the original factory image it won't install without problems but you can use the backupsuite provided with the image, it is the same plugin but adapted by me special for the factory image, it is on the feed from VU+

But installing a new image without having a back-up isn't such a big deal, nothing much what can go wrong.

So to be short:
- what image is installed at the moment (and which version and date)
- do you have it connected to the internet

Im running the following Image (factory settings): Experimental 2011-12-27

Box is connected to the internet. I successfully checked the osd settings and i connected via dreamboxcontrocenter.

you mentioned a backupsuite for vu+ factory images. where can i find it?

It's a very old image, the vuplus-backupsuite is available only for images 2.1 from VU+ and is downloadable by the menu, but for you it won't work because of the age of the image.

My advice to you is freshly flash a new image, my choice to pick is Openpli 4.0 at the moment. It can be found HERE.

To be sure you could copy the content of the folder /etc/enigma2 for save keeping, and save your channellists/favorites by e.g. dreamboxedit.

Maybe you're better helped at openpli.org because this is the Xtrend forum so aimed at the brand Xtrend (but much is the same for both brands and here are also capable members which can help you with non brand specific questions).

Good luck

Again in post #1 a new version

Changed in version 13.4
- Now in the file imageversion, in the back-up folder, the following is reported:
  • Backup date
  • Which image is backed up
  • The last update in that back-up
e.g.

Source code

1
2
3
Backup date = 20131101
Image       = openpli4
Last update = 2013.11.01-22:29:04

- changed the picons/plugin.png

So you've removed the hardcoded "OpenPLi-3.0" and solved the job with Backup date/Image date? Great work!! Thanks again :)
